All interaction data with AI models or your local MCP server remains strictly on your local device and is never sent to us or any external third party, except as described below regarding anonymous analytics.

Anonymous Usage Analytics: To understand how the Extension is used and identify areas for improvement, we collect **anonymous, aggregated usage data** using Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This includes information such as:

• Basic interaction events (e.g., extension installed, browser started, content script loaded on a compatible page).
• Feature usage frequency (e.g., sidebar opened, specific tools invoked - planned for future implementation).
• Technical information (e.g., browser version, operating system - provided by GA4 by default).
• Performance data and error occurrences (e.g., uncaught errors in the background script).

3. Data Usage

Local Storage for Settings: The Extension uses Chrome's local storage to save your preferences and settings (such as sidebar position, toggle states, and UI customizations). This information is stored only on your device and is not accessible by us or any third party.

Anonymous Analytics for Improvement: The anonymous usage data collected via Google Analytics 4 is used **solely** for the following purposes:

• Understanding which features are most popular or useful.
• Identifying and diagnosing technical errors or performance issues.
• Making informed decisions about future development and improvements to the Extension.
• Aggregated reporting on general usage trends.

MCP Server Communication: The Extension communicates with an MCP server that runs locally on your own laptop. This server is maintained and configured by you, the user, and is not controlled by the extension developers. All communication between the Extension and the MCP server remains on your local network and is never transmitted to external third-party servers. **No data from your MCP server is sent to Google Analytics.**

4. Data Sharing

No Personal Data Sharing: The Extension does not share, sell, or disclose your personal data to anyone, because it does not collect any.

Aggregated Anonymous Data: We may view aggregated, anonymous usage reports provided by Google Analytics 4 to understand general usage patterns. This aggregated data contains no personal information and cannot be used to identify individual users. Google's handling of data is governed by their own privacy policy.

5. Permissions

The Extension requests the following permissions solely to provide its intended functionality:

• Storage: To save your local preferences, settings, and the anonymous GA4 client ID.
• ClipboardWrite: To allow you to copy results to your clipboard, at your explicit request.
• Host Permissions (Specific Sites): To enable the Extension to work on supported AI chat platforms (such as Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) by injecting necessary scripts and UI elements.
• Host Permissions (`google-analytics.com`): To send anonymous usage data to Google Analytics 4 servers for the purposes described in Section 3.

These permissions are never used to collect or transmit any personal or sensitive information beyond the anonymous analytics described.

6. Security

No Remote Code Execution: All code executed by the Extension is bundled within the extension package. The Extension does not load or execute any remote scripts or resources, except for sending data to Google Analytics as described.

Local and Analytics Communication: The Extension communicates only with the MCP server that you run locally on your own laptop, and with Google Analytics servers to send anonymous usage data. This analytics communication uses HTTPS for encryption. The Extension does not make any other network requests to external third-party servers, except as required by the browser for normal extension updates through the Chrome Web Store.

Architecture: The Extension uses a modular architecture with content scripts, site adapters, and a background service worker to facilitate communication between your browser, your local MCP server, and Google Analytics. This architecture ensures that all personal data processing happens on your device and under your control.

7. Children's Privacy

The Extension does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. The anonymous usage data collected is not considered PII.

8. Changes to This Policy

Any future changes to this Privacy Policy, especially regarding data handling practices, will be communicated via an update to the Extension's listing in the Chrome Web Store and potentially through an in-extension notification. We recommend reviewing this policy periodically.
